Can't Breathe Easy

[ Listening to Breathe Easy by BLUEBeing a freelance photographer, a father of three daughter and a servant for government... There is so much things I have to handle and I have to serve. Once you were committed to be an official photographer for any event, you must have to finish your product within the agreement. Working hours, I'll be at office.. No other outside work bring at office.. nanti boss marah oooo... :) While at home, you try to work it but you have play with your child.. Ask them to sleep early, so that you can do your photo editing work.. This three things was my major right now. Even this is a simple work but once you were committed to make it perfect at all, I am gonna less of sleep.. less of rest.. whooahhhhh!!!!! Huh!!!!! Whatever it is, I'll make my dream became real, One Day in Future!!

Wedding Photography Story [My Experience]

As I told somebody, anonymous yesterday.. I am not a good story teller here but I am trying too to be that person lah.. I am just a photoblogger as photography was my part time job now since 2007.. I starting to this job since that year but already as a hobby since 2003. This job was so great. It gave me a bonus, such like a money and off course satisfaction!! While doing this, there is so much things that I've been experienced. Connecting with bundles of photographer around KK and some from another district, also from others state and country. :) Being a wedding photographer, there is so much trouble or maybe problem and things that I have to facing and solve it alone. An example is when you were shooting your friends wedding. You make a deal with them, with a low price of shooting while you were also offer to shoot another wedding with a big number of price but you were eager to shoot your friends wedding than that big price of wedding photography too. Huhu.. this is one of my decision to do. That is just one of my problem... :)
Some other time, there is a couple wedding which can't easy pose in front of your gear.. and this is the time I have to show my credibility and creativity as a photographer. Ask them to smile, posing, adjust their sitting [group], talking to them while shooting [make a joke or maybe loyar buruk].. hehe.. This is must do once you were in this kind of business.
Others problem is Editing, Printing and Deliverance time frame.. Huhu.. every freelance photographer [or maybe it was only me facing this.. ], must faces this. While you were doing this, you also got to doing your primary job...you only can do your others job at night or weekend day... but the big problem is, once you were well known in this industry [sikit - sikitlah.. :)], you'll got every weekends project [kadang-kadanglah kunun].. and this project would make you busy [busy gila lah kunun..], editing and so on would make you sleep around 1.00am or 2.00am everyday.. while doing this, you have to struggle and force yourself..maybe it was easy if you have your assistant but if your payment is just around RM0.6k to RM1.0k, it was still not capable your energy and costing. My time frame by doing this job of editing and so on is three to six weeks. So, it was just nice for me to edit and print..so much trouble and problem lah.. hehe.. but it was just one part of wedding photography experience. I am still learn. Still trying to catch up other photographer experienced. I am really need others experience!
mmm.. a few hours ago,.. i went to hair saloon and here is my new face with that.. hahaha..

Street Photography Tips

On Dec 12, 2009, there is a simple gathering between photographers around KK at Starbucks, Warisan Square for Street Photography - Photo Catcher Program. This event was fully organize by Rahim Matnin's PHOTO/GRAPHIC@GALLERY. The main focus of this event is to gather all the amateur photographer and to get in touch. This is also to make a better relationship and off course to improve their individual skills in photography. :) Thanks to Rahim for his commitment into this. This is fun and enjoy. Well, I hope too that all of the participant will be happy during that day. The place to cover during that day is Pasar Kraftangan [Filipino's Market], Sinsuran, SAFMA, Pasar Kota Kinabalu, Segama Complex, and Waterfront [in front of Cocoon]. Here is some Street Photography Tips that you all can use or maybe study before start to shot on that day. :)
  1. Less is More – don’t take too much equipment and travel light. It’ll make you less obtrusive and you will be able to move around for the best shot quickly.
  2. Off the Beaten Track – don’t just go to all the touristy shots – try to get ‘behind the scenes’ and ‘real life’ scenes.
  3. Stolen Moments – anticipate moments between people before they happen.
  4. True Colours – black and white is often where it’s at with street photography but at times colourful situations arise and can really make a shot – be on the look out for these.
  5. In the Background – what’s goign on behind your subject can actually ‘make’ the shot. Billboards, signs, graffiti and other visual elements can really make a statement in a shot.
  6. Dare to Go Diagonal – don’t just hold your camera horizontally – experiment with angles. Street photography is a less formal medium – make the most of it.
  7. Opposites Attract – shots which challenge the ‘norm’ in terms of composition and story/subject matter can be powerful. Look out for ’surprising’ subject matter and composition.
  8. What a Performance – street performers, parades and other street entertainment can be great subject matter on the street.
  9. Off the Streets – other places where people gather in number can lead to great shots in this genre – zoos, fairs, shows, parks, sporting events etc all can be worth trying.
  10. New Angle – find ways to get up high or down low – these new perspectives on subjects that are familiar can lead to eye catching shots.
  11. Practice makes Perfect – over time and with practice your photography will improve. You’ll not only get better at technique but also spotting the things to focus upon on the street.
  12. Fortune Favors the Brave – sometimes the best thing you can do is to get close to your subject – this can be a little confronting but will produce powerful images
  13. Fun in the Sun – often we try to avoid shooting into the sun and the shadows that direct sunlight can produce – in street photography breaking these ‘rules’ can lead to great shots.
  14. Ready to Pounce – have your camera out and ready to shoot at all times. Things can move quickly on the street so if you’re not ready you’ll miss lots of opportunities.
  15. Revise the Revisit – street photography is not all about spontaneity – if you see a scene with potential don’t be afraid to keep coming back to it until you get the shot.
  16. Frozen Motion – the street is a place of movement – to capture it and still get sharp shots make sure your shutter speed is fast enough. 1/125 or more with an ISO of 400 is what this article recommended as a base. I also think it can be fun to experiment with slower shutter speeds on the street – capture the movement as blur.
  17. Street Wallpaper – blend in with the scene – shoot unobtrusively and unnoticed.
  18. Life Through a Lens – ‘exaggerating perspective will help set your subject in context and provide a more forgiving depth of field’ – use a wide angle lens (or even a fisheye).
  19. Expect the Expected – people can be suspicious of street photographers so shoot in places where people expect to see people doing photography. Smile, be polite and be willing to delete images if people protest.
  20. Location, Location, Location – really this is what it is all about. Choose places where people interact with one another and times when they are present.
All of this tips was copy and paste from Digital Photography School which I subscribe it since from the beginning of my carrier as a freelance photographer. All of the content is easy to understand and their writing was good. Thats why I always use them to find any tips for every mission of mine. :)
